Locomotive derails, three trains delayed 

VIJAYAWADA: Three inter-city trains left Vijayawada station nearly two hours behind schedule on Friday morning following derailment of a locomotive in the railway yard in the early hours of the day. According to railway officials, the locomotive got derailed during shunt movement in the railway yard of Vijayawada. It resulted in three inter-city trains originating in Vijayawada and scheduled to leave the station between 5 am to 6 am getting delayed by 1 to 2 hours.

Chennai-bound Pinakini Express, Hyderabad-bound Satavahana Express and Visakhapatnam-bound Ratnachal express got delayed. As the engine got derailed, the three trains could not come to the platform from the railway yard as per schedule. Railway officials said an inquiry had been taken up into the engine derailment and a detailed report would be submitted to higher officials after the inquiry.
Meanwhile Visakhapatnam-LTT express from Visakhpatnam too was delayed on account of the derailment. Though the train arrived on time at about 6 am, it was not given signal to enter the railway station.
