Man Dies in Bee Attack

SANGAREDDY:  A swarm of honey bees attacked a funeral procession leaving one person dead and another 30 injured. As the bees attacked the procession people ran helter-skelter leaving behind Jagan (50) who was stung by the bees.

The incident took place in Hothi K village of Zaheerabad mandal of the district Tuesday afternoon.  According to Zaheerabad Rural sub-inspector of police Satyanarayana, 90-year Peddabai Pentamma of Hothi K village, died on Tuesday morning. In the afternoon, about 200 relatives and villagers took the body to the graveyard on the outskirts of the  village, to conduct funeral. As they reached the outskirts of the village, a swarm of honey bees surrounded them.

People started ran helter-skelter to escape from the bees. In the melee, a close relative of the deceased, Jagan (50) from Jhadi Malkapur, was surrounded and stung by bees. Jagan died instantly while another 30 people suffered injuries.  The injured were admitted to hospitals in Zaheerabad. As the condition of four turned serious, they were shifted to Sangareddy Govt Hospital.
