Global convention centre will come up on beachfront: Naidu

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced that an international standard convention complex would come up at the APIIC grounds, near the RK Beach. However, Naidu said that the APIIC was having 10 acres, where the partnership summit was held in January last, and there was another three-acre land belonging to the CMR group.

The government would ask the CMR group to cede the land and in lieu of it, an alternative site would be offered. If the CMR group wishes to be a partner in the mega project, the government will give stake in proportion to the CMR’s land,” Naidu said, adding that If the CMR group declines both the offers, the government would take the final call.

Eight more beaches to be developed

After completing the whirlwind visit to the city on Monday, the chief minister spoke to the media. Revealing the government plans and projects to develop Vizag, he said that eight more beaches, including Yarada, Yendada, Sagarnagar, Mangamaripeta, Thotlakonda, Bheemili and Revupolavaram would be developed with all facilities. The district administration had submitted some designs of Mudasarlova park and flyovers at NAD, Satyam and Maddilapalem junctions. The designs would be made available to the people for a public audit on the works, the CM said.

On the Lambasingi and Dallapalli tourism projects in the agency area, the CM said that the works continued apace to develop both as  tourism destinations.

Railway zone only for Vizag

The Kambalakonda would be developed as a city forest (Eco Tourism Park). The park would be developed with international standards by developing it on special themes like flower gardens, biodiversity park and medicinal plant park. Several projects would come up in Visakhapatnam, including more parks, world top 10 ranked five and seven star hotels, world class universities and schools. Already, 450 acres were kept ready for the development of various educational institutions at Sabbavaram. The government had made it clear to the Railway Ministry that the proposed Railway zone must be sanctioned with headquarters at Vizag and it would be announced soon, Naidu said. To provide nutritious food to tribal families, the government had decided to supply one kg red gram to 6 lakh ration card-holders in the agency areas from November 1 . Mineral water will also be supplied to all tribal families, the CM added.
