HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old medico killed herself by mixing anaesthesia in a saline bottle and injecting it into her veins in her room as her parents allegedly did not allow her to marry her boyfriend.

The woman identified as B Sravani (27), a native of Neredcherla village in Miryalaguda mandal, was studying in PG first year at Osmania Medical College. She was staying in a flat at Jambagh along with her classmate Ooha of Ibrahimpatnam.

Around 7 pm, Sravani’s mother called her on her mobile phone but she did not get a response. Then she called Ooha and informed her that Sravani was not picking up her call. When Ooha reached the flat, she found it locked from inside. Peeping through the window, she found her friend lying motionless on a bed with an IV-line connected to her veins.

With the help of neighbours, Ooha broke open the door and rushed Sravani to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Afzalgunj inspector C Anjaiah said that Sravani, a PG student was specialising in anaesthesia. It is suspected that the woman was upset about her parents' disapproval of her plans to marry her boyfriend.

A case of suspicious death has been registered and the body is set to be autopsied in the same hospital, the inspector added.
