Eluru house surgeon commits suicide at hostel, doctor parents say he suffered from depression

According to family and friends, Ritesh was depressed about his studies and even underwent treatment atRajamahendravaram for about a month earlier.

ELURU: Balabhadra Ritesh (24), a young medico who is practising as a house surgeon at Ashrama Hospital in Eluru, reportedly committed suicide by jumping off his hostel building on Thursday. His
friends found him in the wee hours, lying in a pool of blood next to the main entrance.

Ritesh is the youngser son of doctor couple Venkata Ramaraju and Sujatha, hailing from Rajamahendravaram. He completed his MBBS last year and was just 20 days away from completing his term as a house surgeon.

The police said that Ritesh was last seen by his roomate Anirudh in his hostel room, and went missing since Wednesday afternoon. At the break of dawn on Thursday, fellow medicos who were on their way to
the affiliated hospital, found  Ritesh's body next to the main entrance.

The police suspect that the youngster might have jumped off the three-storyed hostel building to end his life.

According to family and friends, Ritesh was depressed about his studies and even underwent treatment at
Rajamahendravaram for about a month earlier.

"Some medicos suffer from depression during their term as house surgeons. He was responding to the treatment and hence, we sent him to complete his studies as only a month's term was pending," said Ritesh's father Venkata Ramaraju.
