KAKINADA: The officials of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) and the district administration are racing against time to make arrangements for the Saturday visit of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to Kakinada. They are making every arrangement to give him a grand welcome befitting his status.

With KMC elections round the corner, political pundits see CM’s Saturday visit as the launch of TDP campaign. The CM would be in Kakinada for his anti-mosquito campaign, Swachh Andhra Pradesh and Vanam - Manam programme. However, the party cadres feel this is the launch of poll campaign. In fact, district in-charge minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao had met the party workers on Thursday and asked them to work hard and take up people’s grievances.

Significantly, his Domala Pai Dandayatra programme is moving at a snail’s pace. Even now many low-lying areas of the city like Dummulapeta, Jagannadhapuram, Parlowpeta, PR Nagar, Siddhartha Nagar and Godarigunta have puddles and pools of dirty and stagnant water, which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Swachh Andhra Pradesh too is no different.
