Andhra appeals stay on Swiss Challenge

HYDERABAD: Aggrieved with an order passed by a single judge on Swiss Challenge issue recently, the Andhra Pradesh government and the Capital Region Development Authority on Wednesday jointly moved an appeal in the form of lunch motion before a division bench with a plea to set aside the above order.

However, the bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U Durga Prasad Rao was not inclined to take up the appeal as a lunch motion challenging the order of the single judge who stayed notifications issued by the authorities to develop 6.84 square kilometers start-up area of Amaravati capital city of AP state.

While making a mention before the bench, AP advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas urged the court to grant permission to move the appeal as a lunch motion in view of urgency involved in the matter. The bench decided to hear the appeal on Thursday.
