Amaravati Shopping Fest from Oct 7

VIJAYAWADA: It’s going to be a shopping and entertainment extravaganza for denizens of Vijayawada under one roof shortly as the district administration is exploring all possibilities to conduct first ever Amaravati Shopping Festival (ASF) in the city from October 7 to 28, said Krishna District Collector Babu A.

He was addressing an official-level meeting to review the arrangements for the festival, at the Collectorate conference hall here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Babu A said that the festival, to be held from October 7 to 28 had been planned in such a way that it could boost the State’s trade and commerce sector in a big way and make the State an international trade destination in a phased manner.

The festival, being organised with the support of commercial and tourism departments, will give due consideration to market centres, traditional industrial and tourism centres. It is expected that such an approach will also have a positive effect on the State’s economy, he said.

He said retail shops, trade centres, super markets, shopping malls, etc, will be offering attractive packages during the festival with a view to encourage customers, besides attracting more tourists to the State. ASF would also promote local traditional products, he added.

The Collector said registration of shops for taking part in the festival will begin after the review meeting, to be held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on September 22.
