ACB nets Andhra official with assets worth Rs 100 crore

Conducts simultaneous raids in 19 places on R&B department’s engineer-in-chief.

VIJAYAWADA:  The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday netted a big fish -- Engineer-in-Chief of Roads and Buildings Department Maley Gangadharam-- and unearthed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The total value of the unearthed disproportionate assets is estimated to be around Rs 100 crore while the registration value is being shown as Rs 8.5 crore. 

Receiving credible information about the huge disproportionate assets of Gangadharam across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and even in Karnataka, ACB sleuths conducted raids simultaneous at 19 places in Vijayawada, Kadapa, Chittoor, Visakhapatnam and Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad in Telangana and at Bangalore in Karnataka. 

The accused has purchased flats, lands and shares and investments in the name of his wife, son, daughter, father-in-law and mother-in-law and also in the name of some benami. The accused joined the department as a deputy executive engineer and worked at various places in various capacities. He worked at East Godavari, Krishna, Kurnool, Kadapa, Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts in the the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He is a native of Pileru in Chittoor district. The accused has been arrested.
