Nara Lokesh inducted into Andhra Pradesh cabinet; takes charge as minister for panchayat raj and IT

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh was inducted into the Andhra Pradesh cabinet as the minister for panchayat raj and IT at the Interim Government Complex (IGC) at Velagapudi in the capital region of Amaravati on Friday.

Lokesh, son of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, took charge of his office on the ground floor of the fifth block in IGC amid chanting of vedic hymns by priests from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

After completion of the procedures,  Lokesh signed files concerning NREGA workers that include provision of Rs 5 lakh insurance for the family in case of the death or disability of a worker, who has worked for over 50 days. 

Lokesh directed the concerned officials to complete LED Street lights in all the 12,900 villages in the coming two years in addition to the 450 villages, where the LED lighting system has already been completed on a pilot basis.

The minister has also directed the officials to enhance the solid waste management system in all the 12,900 villages in the State.
