VISAKHAPATNAM: Reiterating the government resolve for ensuring opportunities for foreign investment in the state, HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has urged the Russian delegates to come up with more investment proposals.
A business-to-business meeting was held with the delegates from Russia led by Boris Dubrovsky, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, with the AP government officials and state industrialists here on Friday.
“There has always been a strong relationship between India and Russia in financial, security and diplomatic fields. While there is an investment of $8 billion in Russia by India, they have only $3 billion investments in India, which can be improved in future,” observed the minister while speaking at the meeting.
Similar to the MoU of United Ship Building Corporation of Russia with ship building clusters in the the state, one of the main industrial sectors of Chelyabinsk Region should come up with investments in the AP, he said.
Discussing the developments in AP, the minister told the delegates that roads were being laid at a cost of `7 billion in the state capital Amaravati, apart from a logistic hub of worth `200 billion being set up.
Apart from the six airports and six ports, discussions are being made to come up with four more airports and seven ports in Andhra Pradesh.
With plans to develop three industrial corridors and one coastal economic zone, the minister opined that the Russian delegates have better investment opportunities.
“We have made good investments in the last few decades and entered into several bilateral relationships with India, especially in the meteorology and machine building sectors. We will certainly try to make the bond stronger,” said Boris Dubrovsky.
Citing that there are about 1.5 per cent business deals happening between Chelyabinsk Region and India, he promised to take the business forward up to $65 million.
Collector Pravin Kumar, chief executive officer, AP Economic Development Board, J Krishna Kishore, deputy Governor of Chelyabinsk Ruslan Gattarov, Minister of Agriculture of the region Sergey Sushkov, Deputy Minister for Economic Development Anton Bakhayev, Deputy Director of Foreign Economic activities Glukharev and director of international co-operation development Olga Aleynikova were also present on the occasion.
