HYDERABAD:  Arguments concluded in the Special CBI Court here on Friday on a petition filed by the CBI seeking cancellation of bail granted to YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy who was accused number one in the disproportionate assets case.

It is learnt that the interview of prime prosecution witness P Ramakanth Reddy, retired IAS officer and former chief secretary in the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government, to Sakshi TV channel was heard by the court during the hearing.

Later, CBI counsel K Surender, while seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Jagan, told the court that the A1 consciously flouted the bail conditions laid down while enlarging him on bail in September 2013.

Telecasting the interview of the former chief secretary in the media controlled by A1 was with the sole motto to dissuade or otherwise influence the other witnesses from testifying against him during the trial. He alleged that the said interview was intended to scuttle the prosecution’s case against Jagan.

Senior counsel S Niranjan Reddy, appearing for Jagan, refuted the allegations levelled against his client by the CBI, saying that he did not have any correlation directly or indirectly with the conduct of the subject interview. In fact, Sakshi TV is not under the management of Jagati Publications as alleged by the CBI

Indira Television Pvt Ltd is a corporate entity which has the exclusive rights and administrative control over “Sakshi TV” and that there is no direct or indirect management of the said company by Jagan, he contended. The court reserved its judgment on the two petitions till April 28.
