Focus on economic growth of poor districts: Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the government will focus on the development of those districts which are lagging behind in terms of per capita income.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the government will focus on the development of those districts which are lagging behind in terms of per capita income.

Addressing a meeting organised with the heads of departments at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Tuesday, the Chief Minister reiterated that the highest growth rate should be achieved for  increase in per capita income and wanted the officials to concentrate on districts registering lowest per capita income.

Directing the officials to appoint task forces for seven sectors identified as growth engines, he said that the State has been marching forward in all sectors with the help of information technology. A call centre was inaugurated recently to get feedback from people on the implementation of development schemes and  welfare programmes in the State.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him to lead digital India programme, Naidu said that several programmes being implemented by the AP government, including AP Fibregrid, had received applause during the Niti Aayog meeting held recently. He said that the State government has been implementing several programmes suggested by Niti Aayog.

He said that a task force will be appointed to double the revenue in agricultural sector in the next five years. The State stands in the fifth position in agricultural sector in the country, he said and wanted the officials to take Andhra Pradeh ahead of all States in agricultural growth.

The Chief Minister said that the State should achieve 12 to 15 per cent growth rate for 15 years to reach the targets and suggested the officials to adopt the best practices of other States to keep AP ahead in all sectors. He said the government should achieve public satisfaction in all sectors.

Centre for Good Governance

Naidu said that the CM camp office in Vijayawada will be developed as Centre for Good Governance and start functioning from May 1.

Stressing the need for improving HR policy, he said that retired chief secretary SP Tucker will be made in-charge to improve skills among officials. The officials should act as per the advices of Tucker and prepare action plan to reach their targets, he said.
