Nine injured in LPG blast at tiffin centre in Krishna district 

Nine persons were injured in an LPG cylinder blast at Hunuman Tiffin Centre in Nandigama of Krishna district on Saturday.

VIJAYAWADA: Nine persons were injured in an LPG cylinder blast at Hunuman Tiffin Centre in Nandigama of Krishna district on Saturday. 

The fire and police departments rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a government hospital in Nandigama.

The injured were identified as S Gowse, R Venkateswara Rao, P Narasimha Rao, P Venkateswara Rao, P Rosaiah, M Avamma, K Krishna, M Kantha Rao and the identity of another person is yet to be known. Among the nine injured, one person was admitted to Vijayawada Government Hospital and two were admitted to a corporate hospital.

Doctors said that the condition of the three injured, who suffered 65-70 per cent burn injuries is said to be critical. Collector B Lakshmikantham and joint collector G Chandrudu visited the government hospital and enquired about the health condition of the injured.

The Nandigama police registered a case and took up investigation. D Srinu is running the tiffin centre for the past few years at the same location.

As a part of their regular work, one of the workers in the centre changed the cylinder on Friday. On Saturday, the cap of cylinder opened which led to the fire. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital.
