Government to IAS officers: Visit villages, collect feedback from people on welfare schemes 

The State government has made it mandatory for the IAS officers to make field visits and take feedback from the public on various schemes being implemented by the government.

VIJAYAWADA: The State government has made it mandatory for the IAS officers to make field visits and take feedback from the public on various schemes being implemented by the government.As per the orders issued by Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar on Thursday, under the concept of ‘People First’, all the Secretaries, Heads of the Departments and District Collectors were directed to make field visits for effective monitoring and reviewing the programmes at the village-level to get a feel of the ground level realities and give feedback to the government.

Special Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries should undertake field visits in villages at least two days in a month and make a night halt at least in one village for interaction with the villagers.
Similarly, the Heads of the Departments (HoDs) should visit villages for at least seven days and make two night halt at a village in a month. The District Collectors should visit villages for at least three days in a week and make one night halt at the village in a week.All the officials were also directed to submit their field reports to the Chief Secretary at the end of the month.

In order to capture the details, the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Department will develop an exclusive website for the purpose.The District Heads of line departments should visit the villages at least three days in a week and make a one-night halt. The District officers of line departments should submit their report to the respective HoDs.During the field visits, Secretaries, HoDs and Collectors should take stock of ground realities on the implementation of programmes and policies and review all such programmes at the village-level irrespective of the department they represent.
