Lokesh urges Union Minister Tomar to release funds due to Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: Panchayat Raj Minister N Lokesh has urged Union Minister for Panchayat Raj Narendra Singh Tomar to take steps for releasing Rs 1,351.81 crore that is due to the State with regard to the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme. Lokesh, who called on the Union Minister in New Delhi on Thursday, also drew his attention to arrears of Rs 600 crore due to the State as part of the Labour Budget.

Lokesh also sought support for the project of laying of roads for a distance of 4,772 km, which  requires an investment of Rs 3,185 crore. He also reminded the minister of the second instalment of Rs 165 crore payable to the Swachh Andhra Corporation from the Centre for construction of individual toilets.

He also sought help for water purification plants proposed to be set up in areas where there is a problem of fluoride high content water.
