VIJAYAWADA: Corruption reduced to a great extent in the State, which stood at the 19th place in a survey conducted by NCRIA. Speaking to reporters at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Friday, Planning Board vice-chairman C Kutumba Rao said that the survey proved that the government stood for a transparent administration curbing the menace of corruption at all levels.

Exuding confidence that the state’s rank in terms of corruption will further fall to 24 next year, he said that the ‘Parishkara Vedika’ (1100 call centre) set up by the government helped control corruption.

Admitting that the state stood in third place in corruption as per the survey taken up in 2016, he said that in the survey taken up during the Congress party rule prior to the TDP coming to power, the state had a dubious distinction. But, notwithstanding the fact, the opposition YSRC leaders levelled baseless charges.

But they are now silent over the present rank of the state in terms of corruption. Rao said that though the rank of the state in corruption is expected to decrease further, he said the disproportionate assets cases of YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRC leaders writing letters making allegations of corruption on the projects being taken up in the state limited it to 19th rank. Otherwise, it may have dropped to lower than 20,” he observed.
