VIJAYAWADA: The state government on Friday dropped charges of misappropriation of 300 coins against former Tirumala Temple bokkasam clerk P Seshadri alias 'Dollar Seshadri' and retired Deputy Executive Officer of TTD A Vasudevan.

As per the orders issued by the Revenue Department, both the retired officers will not face any action with regard to the case. In 2006 as many as 300 Srivari dollars (each weighing 5 grams) went missing from the bokkasam (official strongroom of the Lord’s belongings).

P Seshadri, Vasudevan and a few other officials were held responsible for the missing coins and a CID inquiry was ordered. Though Seshadri was removed from the post of officer on special duty (OSD) by the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams, he was later given reprieve and his service extended from time to time.

Though Seshadri superannuated in 2006, the TTD extended his service as OSD saying he was one of the few people who were well versed with the customs of serving the Lord.
