High court upholds life term of 2 in murder case

Noting that the prosecution has proved the guilt of the appellants-accused beyond all reasonable doubts for the offence under Section 302 IPC (punishment for murder), a division bench

HYDERABAD: Noting that the prosecution has proved the guilt of the appellants-accused beyond all reasonable doubts for the offence under Section 302 IPC (punishment for murder), a division bench of Hyderabad High Court has recently upheld the judgment of trial court which had convicted and sentenced the accused to suffer life imprisonment for murder of a woman.

“The extra judicial confession made before VRO by the appellants is an admissible evidence and it is sufficient to believe that the appellants have caused the death of the deceased and committed theft of gold ornaments worn by her,” it observed.

The bench comprising Justice P V Sanjay Kumar and Justice Shameem Akther said this while dismissing an appeal by Manjula and Manjunatha challenging the judgment of VII Additional District and Sessions Judge (FTC), Madanapalle, Chittoor district. During probe, it was found that the accused belong to Karnataka and stayed in a rented house in Punganur town. Left with no jobs, they had decided to earn easy money and they invited the woman into their house and bolted the door. Thereafter, they caught hold of her neck resulting in her death.
