VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution urging the Centre to extend 33.33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures. Though the Assembly adopted similar resolutions earlier, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu moved the resolution once again after participating in the short discussion over women’s empowerment in the House.

Naidu, who recently launched Amaravati Declaration on Women’s Empowerment based on recommendations from National Women’s Parliament held in February, also assured that the government will implement all the issues mentioned in the declaration in letter and spirit. Stating that the TDP always gave priority to women, he said his government committed to the welfare and development of the women. On the occasion, both the Legislative Assembly and Council also adopted Thanksgiving Motion over Amaravati Declaration.
