NELLORE: As many as 24 students, including seven girls, were allegedly beaten up by their teacher for not completing homework at Duttalur Model High School. The incident came to light when three students were admitted to Duttalur Primary Health Centre for treatment after they suffered from fever due to injuries on Wednesday. According to sources, Science guest teacher of model school Sruthi had assigned a project work to Class-VIII students in the school 10 days ago.

After 10 days on Tuesday, the teacher asked the students to show the project work, but these students had not completed it. The angry teacher beat 24 students in the class on their hands and legs. Of these students, Vamsi, Rajesh, Sreenu -- who have been residing in Duttalur BC hostel -- were suffering from fever due to the impact of the injuries since Tuesday night.

The trio were admitted to Duttalur PHC for treatment. One of them was shifted to Vinjamur hospital.
