Displaced families get accommodation

Forty-three families who were displaced as part of road widening works on Nadivelugu Road in the city were provided temporary accommodation at Rajiv Gruhakalpa Colony at Adavitakkellapadu.

GUNTUR: Forty three families who were displaced as part of road widening works on Nadivelugu Road in the city were provided temporary accommodation at Rajiv Gruhakalpa Colony at Adavitakkellapadu in Guntur district.It may be mentioned here that the Guntur Municipal Corporation has started road widening works to resolve traffic woes in the city. The Nadivelugu Road has been widened to 120 feet from 40 feet. However, the evictees appealed to the GMC authorities to provide basic amenities in the colony.

The officials said that the evictees will be allotted permanent houses under Housing for All Scheme at Adavitakkellapadu. The GMC officials have proposed to widen 5 main streets in the city. Accordingly, the officials conducted survey and decided to remove encroachments on roads.M Tulasi Bai, Ramavath Lalee, Sk Habiba and P Lakshmi are some of the denizens who were provided temporary accommodation.
