TTD cancels 10 Janatha canteens’ licences

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Saturday issued orders to cancel licences of 10 Janatha canteens as these had failed to follow some conditions.

TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Saturday issued orders to cancel licences of 10 Janatha canteens as these had failed to follow some conditions. The TTD had issued orders on Friday and handed those to the licence holders, but the violations came to light a day later and there was no time to knock the legal doors. According to the proceedings, the Office of the Executive Officer, TTD, issued the licence cancellation orders.


Sri Padmavathi Devi Big Canteen at DMB Road, Sannidhanam Big Canteen, HVDC Big Canteen, Kousthubham Big Canteen, PAC-West and North Janatha Canteens, SMC Janatha Canteen, HVC Janatha Canteen, ANC and MMT Janatha Canteens are listed for closure .“The above said licensees of Big Janatha canteens in Tirumala are hereby directed to close the canteens and hand over the vacant possession of the canteens immediately without fail,’ the order read.

The task force team is asked to vacate them and take necessary action to close all 10 hotels and take over the vacant possession of the said canteens immediately and submit the compliance report to EO’s office.
The canteens had failed to pay the penalty amount imposed equivalent to one month licence fee for violation of licence conditions and the licence fee dues for the month of October -2017.Srivatsav Big Canteen has filed a writ petition in the High Court, so this canteen remains open.
When the TTD officials conducted surprise checks, all these canteens failed to follow certain conditions.
