Contract lecturers demand regularisation

GUNTUR: Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu has promised to resolve the issues of contract lecturers. The AP Government Colleges’ Contract Lecturers’ Association held a meeting here on Sunday and handed over their list of demands to the Minister. In response to the demands of employees, the Minister said that the TDP government had already hiked salaries of contract lecturers and added that government will not terminate the services of contract lecturers.

Association JAC convener E Radha, president J Nagaraju Nayak and secretary M Koteswara Rao urged the government to regularise 3,786 posts. They further said that the government should sanction leaves for pregnant women and pay wages as per the guidelines.

They demanded `10 lakh ex gratia to the families of deceased, health cards and general insurance benefits. They said the government should implement uniform service rules to all and continue the services of contract lecturers up to 60 years.

NTR Mirchi Yard chairman M Subba Rao, AMC chairman Koteswara Rao and Contract Lecturers’ Association leaders S Saidulu, Padma Rao and others were present.
