HYDERABAD: BC Welfare Association founder and TDP MLA R Krishnaiah requested his party boss and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to introduce welfare measures such as distribution of sheep to shepherds, setting up of hygienic laundries for washermen, supplying of modern equipment to toddy-tappers and granting financial aid for Nayee Brahmins to set up hitech saloons as is being done by the  K Chandrasekhar Rao government in Telangana.

Krishnaiah, who has been in news for his open opposition to provide “BC” status to Kapus in AP, called on his party boss and AP Chief Minister Naidu here on Sunday.

Later, the TDP MLA told mediapersons that he had requested Naidu to introduce tailor-made welfare schemes to BCs such as Rajakas, Yadvas and Nayee Brahmins, who depend on hereditary professions.
According to Krishnaiah, he urged Naidu to implement welfare schemes similar to those being implemented by the Telangana government to each community of people belonging to weaker sections of society for their upliftment.

The TDP lawmaker demanded that the Chief Ministers of both Telangana and AP, Rao and Naidu, should take steps to take an all-party delegation to Delhi to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce a bill in Parliament to provide 50 per cent reservations for BCs in the Assemblies of both the States.

He also asked all political parties to allocate 50 per cent tickets in the ensuing general polls to BCs. The TDP MLA released the memorandum with 60 such demands, which he submitted to both Rao and Naidu.
Allocation of `20,000 crore for the welfare of the weaker sections of people in the BC sub-plan of the State budget, distribution of three acre land to each BC family, which has no land, allocation of `5,000 crore every year to BC Corporation, extending the fee reimbursement scheme to the BC students pursuing professional courses are some of the demands put forth by Krishnaiah.
