YSRC backtracks, no resignation over Spl status

The YSRC seems to be reconsidering its previous stance of bringing pressure on the Government on Special Category Status by having its Member of Parliaments resign from their posts.

ANANTAPUR: The YSRC seems to be reconsidering its previous stance of bringing pressure on the Government on Special Category Status by having its Member of Parliaments resign from their posts.

Speaking to mediapersons in Anantapur, YSRC MPs were of opinion that if they resign from their posts, there will be no one in Parliament to raise the issue of Special Category Status. “We are not shy of resigning from our posts. If there is any assurance that SCS will be given if we resign,” asked YV Subba Reddy, YSRC MP from Ongole.

He dared Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to make the MPs from YSRC, who defected to his party, resign and get elected afresh. He advised Naidu to focus more on the development issues rather than on purchasing MLAs and MPs of the Opposition.

The MP said that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is only parroting the words of Naidu and getting into the field to divert the attention of the people from serious issues.

Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said there is no other person who has done more injustice to the state than Chandrababu Naidu. “The Centre failed to keep its promises and none of the provisions in the AP Reorganisation Act was implemented. Confusion prevails over the status of Polavaram construction activity.

There is still 10 lakh cubic meters of concrete work to be done and the works pertaining to Cofferdam are yet to commence. Given the situation, it is unlikely to meet the deadline,” he said.
He demanded the Centre to take over the construction of Polavaram project and complete it.  “Shortly, we will meet Union Minister for Water Resources Nitin Gadkari and discuss with him on Polavaram project,” he said.

Rajampet MP P Mithun Reddy said there is no information about the status of Polavaram works on government sites. “All their claims are lies. The government should publish a white paper,” he demanded.
Meanwhile, party chief Jaganmohan Reddy asked the MPs to raise the issue of Fatima students with the Centre.
