KADAPA:  A 14-year-old boy on Tuesday committed suicide by hanging himself using his school tie in the hostel of Montfort School near Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa. His hostel mates claimed that the boy was depressed following scolding from the school correspondent and the hostel warden.

Charan Reddy, a class 9 student, hails from Viswanathapuram in Kadapa. His parents felt that the boy was not focusing on studies at home and admitted him to the school hostel.

On Monday, Charan left the school without informing anyone about where he was going and why and only returned in the night. Taking his misconduct seriously the school correspondent scolded him.

He was reportedly depressed over this and using his school tie he hanged himself from the safety grill in the wee hours of Tuesday. When his hostel mates noticed it, they alerted the hostel warden. The boy was rushed to RIMS Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

On being informed of the incident the boy's parents first rushed to the hostel and later to the hospital.

A case has been registered by the Kadapa DSP S K Masum Basha and investigations are on.
