ANANTAPUR : YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has promised to pay `10,000 to Imams and `5,000 to Mousis if the YSRCP is voted to power in the 2019 Assembly elections. Addressing a meeting organised by the Muslim community at Oddupalli in Atmakuru mandal in Raptadu constituency on Monday, he said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made only hollow promises to minorities, he would fulfil his assurance if voted power. The Chief Minister who promised to allocate `2,500 crore for the welfare of Muslims in the budget, failed to do so. Continuing his tirade against Naidu, he said that the TDP chief deceived all sections of people in the State.
He recalled that when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister, several welfare schemes were implemented for the poor and provided free education. Many students had become doctors and engineers by using the fee reimbursement scheme, he claimed. He deplored that lakhs of Muslim families struck in poverty and unable to afford higher education to their children. But Naidu led government restricted fee reimbursement to `35,000 only while fee in college had gone up substantially.
He alleged that Arogyasri scheme would not be applied, if treatment was taken in Hyderabad or Chennai. He assured to provide free medical treatment, if treated in hospitals in other States under the scheme.
In a bid to serve better to the poor, the YSRCP announced Navaratnalu scheme and vowed to bring revolutionary changes in Arogyasri scheme implementation. Meanwhile, Praja Sankalpa Yatra of Jagan entered the 32nd day. MLA Y Visweswara Reddy, former MP Anantha Venkatarami Reddy, M Shankara Narayana and Raptadu constituency coordinator T Prakash Reddy accompanied Jagan during his yatra.
