VIJAYAWADA: The India International Travel Exhibition (IITE) organised in the city is drawing huge crowd with attractive travel offers and special packages.Majority of the public are still preferring domestic places as their summer destinations rather than opting for International travel. The tourism agents are expecting a downward trend due to effect of demonetisation.

As summer vacation is just a month away, citizens of Vijayawada are planning their trips. To bring up the best tours and travel services with a wide range of holiday destinations, IITE has organised a three-day expo with numerous tourism organisations under a single roof. The expo offers a direct access to various tourism organisations across the country.

“The expo is really helpful to plan a vacation according to our choice and also to avail it at a best price. The best part of the expo is we can directly book the travel packages from the government organisations without the involvement of agents and brokers,” said M Kavya, a final year B Tech student.
Sudhakar of Overseas Travel Agency said, “Every year, we handle over 200-300 international tours in the months of October - January, from Vijayawada, but this year there is a shortfall and the number has decreased to less than 200 travellers. The demonetisation has got greater effect in the tourism industry.”
State tourism organisations like Kerala Tourism, Himachal Pradesh Tourism, AP Tourism, etc., and travel agents like MakeMyTrip, Southern Travels, Oasis Travels etc., are participating in the exhibition.
