BTech student from Vizag blackmailing girls, ends in police custody

A BTech student from Visakhapatnam, fraudulently took the photographs of a 21-year-old young girl while the latter was changing their clothes and blackmailed her seeking sexual favours for returning
those photographs. But when he did not keep his promises and continued harassment, she approached the police who in turn took the accused into their custody.

The accused, Y Nikhil is a final year BTech student from a private engineering college at Duvvada, near Visakhapatnam.

According to a complaint lodged by the 21-year-old victim, Nikhil befriended her after obtaining her phone number through a mutual friends. After more than a month of friendship over social media, he invited her for a photoshoot promising her an opportunity to act in a short film. In the middle of the photoshoot, the young girl went to change her dress when Nikhil took her photographs fraudulently without her knowledge.

Later, the accused blackmailed the girl seeking sexual favours and if she refused, he threatened to release her photographs on the internet. "Upon being promised that he would return all the photographs, she agreed to his demand. But instead of returning the photographs, he continued the harassment," said
Kancharapalem Inspector SS Ch Sekhar Rao.
As a result, the young girl informed her family members and later, lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday late night.

After the issue came to light, two more young girls approached the Kancharapalem police and complained that Nikhil befriended them over telephone and social media. While one of the girls stated that he married her at a temple near Hanumanthawaka, another girl alleged that he promised to marry her. The police registered cases and took Nikhil into custody for further investigation.
