Police cancel premiers for new releases

The police said such shows do not benefit the public at large and attract huge crowds.

VIJAYAWADA: In view of two major releases this Sankranti season, the Vijayawada city police on Wednesday conducted a meeting with the executives of multiplex cinema screens in the city to address security concerns.

The police instructed the theatre owners to ensure proper arrangements to manage huge rush at the theatres. They said it was the responsibility of the theatres to make security arrangements at the theatres.
The police said the benefit and premier shows were not permitted for both Khaidi No 150 and Gauthamiputra Satakarni due to security concerns.

The police said such shows do not benefit the public at large and attract huge crowds. Many times, such shows witness untoward incidents, which are avoidable.

A senior cop noted that such premier and benefit shows fill the coffers of few people, while the general public are put to great inconvenience.
