KAKINADA: The East Godavari district administration on Monday issued an alert after three persons infected with swine flu were admitted to the Kakinada Government Hospital.

Having faced the music last year for not being able to control the spread of the disease, authorities do not want to take any chance this time round and have already made adequate arrangements at the Kakinada GGH and Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital.

Ponnada Anasuya (50) was admitted to Kakinada GGH GGH-K on Saturday with symptoms of the disease. She approached a private hospital at Rajamahendravaram and doctors there referred her to the GGH.

It is learnt that Anasuya hailing from Sitanagaram went to Chodavaram in Vizag to attend a function recently. After returning she had high fever and cold.

She was admitted to the chest and related diseases ward at the GGH and doctors collected her swab sample before sending it to laboratory tests. Preliminary reports suggest that Anasuya has been infected by the vector borne disease.

On Sunday, Anasuya’s 17-month-old grandson was also admitted to Kakinada Government General Hospital with similar symptoms, apart from Kona Venkata Gani (2).
