Water to Krishna delta by June every year  

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the State government is contemplating to release water to Krishna Delta in the first week of June from next year.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the State government is contemplating to release water to Krishna Delta in the first week of June from next year so as to enable the farmers to take up work early.“Thanks to the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS), we have lifted the water of Godavari and brought it into Krishna river and released the water for irrigation needs of Krishna delta in the last week of June. We are planning to release water to Krishna delta in the first week of June itself from next year,” the Chief Minister said.

Participating in the 115th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr K L Rao, former Union minister and the architect of Nagarjuna Sagar Reservoir, here on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that as the coastal regions of the State are prone to cyclones in November and December and the untimely rains and winds causing  crop losses, the government is focusing on providing water in the first week of June to ensure that farmers will get their yield before the cyclones damaging their crops.

Reiterating that the government is giving top priority for Water Resources department, the Chief Minister claimed that he is spending most of his time on monitoring the progress of irrigation projects and allocating adequate funds even by postponing the release of funds for other departments.
Offering tributes to K L Rao, the Chief Minister lauded his contribution for designing the Nagarjuna Sagar project.
