Woman dies, lover battles for life in bike mishap

A 24-year-old woman died on the spot with her head severed from the body, while her lover sustained grievous injuries.

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old woman died on the spot with her head severed from the body, while her lover sustained grievous injuries when the bike they were riding rammed into a bus at Paradesipalem in on Sunday evening. The police suspect overspeeding to be the reason for the accident.

According to sources, 26-year-old Ramesh and his lover Kumari were going to Vizianagaram from the city. Ramesh reportedly riding the bike at a speed of 120 km per hour. In his bid to overtake a bus, he lost control on the wheels and the bike rammed into the bus.

With this, Ramesh and Kumari fell on either side of the bike. A truck laden with concrete mixer coming in the same direction ran over Kumari. She was struck under the rear wheel of the truck.

Eyewitnesses said that her head was separated from the body and dragged up to 30 feet. It is learnt that Ramesh and Kumari are live-in couple. Ramesh who sustained grievous injuries was admitted to the King Gerorge Hospital (KGH).  

The body has been sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered. Investigation is on.
