Aiming high: Consultant selected for Tirupati smart city project

TIRUPATI: Moving ahead on Tirupati’s ‘Smart City’ project, the authorities have announced AECOM-Deloitte as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) till June 2020. They, along with the stakeholders, will be responsible for implementing about 77 smart city projects in Tirupati (under 15 separate modules), targeting the aspects of Area Based Development (ABD) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

“In February, we have floated Request For Proposals (RFPs) for selecting the PMC for Tirupati’s smart city project. After a detailed evaluation of parameters (with an 80 per cent technical and 20 per cent financial weightage), AECOM-Deloitte has been selected and they will be working on the project for the next three years,” maintained Chittoor district collector P S Pradyumna.

The smart city board meeting was chaired by Collector P S Pradyumna at TUDA office on July 15.
Municipal Commissioner Ch Hari Kiran said the projects would focus on areas such as water supply, sewerage, smart/green streets, multi-level parking, bus stand area redevelopment, multi-modal transport hub and vegetable market redevelopment (Indira Priyadarshini Market). “Out of the allotted  R1,600 crore, Deloitte will be taking care of works for  R300 crore for developing ICT solutions, whereas AECOM will handle projects worth R1,300 crore under ABD,” he added.

Emphasising the need for concerted efforts among stakeholders, Hari Kiran said that they would be sending proposals to the State government for reconstituting the existing smart city task force, aimed at better coordination and implementation of the projects.TTD JEO P Bhaskar, SP Abhishek Mohanti, AECOM representatives and municipal commissioner were also present.
