ELURU: The State government has decided to modernise Discoms at a cost of `3,600 crore with the World Bank aid. Speaking after inaugurating a 33/11 KV indoor substation at Santosh Nagar in the city on Saturday, Civil Supplies Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao said Andhra Pradesh which was facing shortage of power at the time of bifurcation, had become a power surplus State within a short span of time due to the initiatives taken by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The substation was set up at a cost of `3.5 crore in 600 square yards of site donated by Edara Ramakrishna Prasad. The substation supplies power to 10,000 consumers.

Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Rama Rao, APEDCL MLC Ramu Surya Rao, Andhra Pradesh State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation Chairman Ambica Krishna, corporator Edpuganti Swarooparani, APEDCL Superintending Engineer Ch Satyanarayana Reddy and others were present on the occasion.

Indiscipline in TDP won’t be tolerated, says Prathipati

Civil Supplies Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao has warned that any indiscipline in the Telugu Desam Party will not be tolerated. Speaking at the TDP Unguturu Assembly constituency meeting at Bhimadole on Saturday, Pulla Rao who is the West Godavari District Incharge Minister, exhorted the party cadres to reach out to people by high-lighting the welfare schemes being implemented by the State government.

The TDP leadership would initiate disciplinary action against those who tarnish the image of the party by indulging in internal bickerings, he said. Youth Services Minister Kollu Ravindra said the TDP government fulfilled most of its election promises during its three year regime.
