AP: Man held, gold worth Rs 1.7 lakh recovered in Tenali

The criminal who visited Prabhavati at Marisu Pet in the guise of an electrician a fortnight ago, hatched a conspiracy to steal the gold ornaments after knowing that she lives alone. 

GUNTUR: Tenali police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 1.7 lakh by arresting a former criminal.

DSP GV Ramana Murthy told newsmen on Saturday that Malleboina Gopi extorted gold ornaments from Pala Prabhavati (67) on Thursday by threatening to kill her. 

The former criminal who visited the house of Prabhavati at Marisu Pet in Tenali in the guise of an electrician a fortnight ago, hatched a conspiracy to steal the gold ornaments after knowing that she is living alone. Based on a complaint by the sexagenarian,  the police registered a case and nabbed the offender within two days, the DSP said.

Guntur Rural SP Ch V Appala Naidu announced a reward for Three Town CI A Ashok Kumar and SI P Hajrattaiah for nabbing the offender and recovering the stolen gold ornaments.
