VISAKHAPATNAM: The southwest monsoon continued to remain weak over the costal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Sunday. Barring isolated rainfall, no area in the state recorded major precipitation.

However, the weathermen said that the upper air circulation over the Bay of Bengal may develop into a low pressure zone, triggering rainfall in AP.

According to IMD officials, the cyclone over south Bangladesh and West Bengal extends up to 7.6 km above the sea level. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to develop during next 48 hours.

A trough on Sea Level Chart now runs from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu across coastal AP and Rayalaseema. On Sunday, isolated rain occurred over Rayalaseema, while an almost dry weather prevailed over coastal AP.
