VISAKHAPATNAM: Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-ruled NDA government at the Centre, AICC Spokesperson and daughter of President Pranab Mukherjee, Sharmistha Mukherjee, has said that the Congress respects the consensus decision on the Indian Presidential elections. But, the BJP must reveal the candidates for the Presidential poll.

Interacting with the media at the office of party MP T Subbirami Reddy’s office on Thursday, Sharmistha Mukherjee said the three-year-old Modi government is all about high promises, but zero on deliverance.
“Modi has done nothing for the development of the country in the past three years and the BJP is responsible for the lowest growth. Above all, the NDA government is neck-deep in corruption,” she said.
Flaying the BJP for going gaga over its success, she said that BJP had spent crores of rupees on the celebration.

“The GDP growth has fallen by 2 per cent and the growth projected is skewed. The BJP was claiming that the average growth rate is between 7 and 7.2 per cent, but the actual growth rate is only 5 per cent. The BJP has taken the base year as 2011-12 instead of 2004-2005. Can we call it a success?,” she asked.
Stating that NDA-II had reneged on its promise of creating two crore jobs per year, she said the government is nowhere near to that mark.

“In the past three years, the Centre has created only 2.35 lakh jobs. The flagship ‘Make in India’ programme has failed miserably as the country received only 14 per cent foreign direct investments (FDI) so far,” she pointed out. Sharmistha decried the BJP’s claim that by the demonetisation drive and fight against black money were the surgical strikes on the black money.

“But, they (BJP) have failed. Even now, they are not in a position to explain us about how much black money have been fished out so far, how much fake currency have been seized and how much money has been re-deposited?” she said.
