ELURU: Four persons were arrested in connection with the murder of a farmer at Naidugudem in Pedapadu mandal on the night of May 16. DSP Gogula Venkateswara Rao told newsmen here on Tuesday that Uday Kumar, John William, Vemuri Rajesh and Matangi Samson were arrested for murdering Kolli Naga Mohan (40). Giving further details, the DSP said Naga Mohan developed an illicit relationship with Bethapudi Bhargavi, wife of Uday Kumar of Naidugudem. Having learnt about the extramarital affair, Uday Kumar reprimanded Bhargavi and she went to her parents’ house at Sumkollu in Krishna district leaving her husband. Uday Kumar’s paternal uncle John William and other family elders tried to resolve the row between the couple by convincing them. Naga Mohan attempted to murder Uday Kumar by knocking him down with a tractor in May.

However, Uday Kumar escaped unhurt in the attempt on his life. Later, Uday Kumar took away his two children from Bhargavi. In retaliation, Uday Kumar hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Naga Mohan with the help of William, and his aides Rajesh and Samson.
The quartet attacked Naga Mohan with knives and iron rods while he was sleeping in a graveyard on May 16. After murdering Naga Mohan, they fled the scene. Based on a complaint by the VRO, Pedapadu police registered a murder case on May 17 and started investigation. Meanwhile, Uday Kumar, William, Rajesh and Samson surrendered before the VRO of Naidugudem on Monday.

Having learnt about the surrender of the accused, Eluru rural CI Adapa Naga Murali and Pedapadu SI K Ramakrishna reached Naidugudem and arrested the quartet. The accused confessed to killing Naga Mohan for continuing his illicit relationship with Bhargavi despite several warnings.

Illicit relationship leads to murder

Kolli Naga Mohan, a farmer, developed an illicit relationship with B Bhargavi, wife of Uday Kumar. Despite several warnings he continued the relationship with her. He attempted to murder Uday Kumar in May. In retaliation, Uday Kumar hatched a conspiracy and eliminated Naga Mohan with the help of his uncle and two aides.

Woman hangs self, husband slits hand

Guntur: A woman committed suicide and her husband attempted to end his life in a room in a lodge in the city on Tuesday. Circle Inspector AV Siva Prasad said K Mahima (20) and B Vasu Babu who fell in love, got married in 2015. The couple of Cobaltpeta checked in the lodge 10 days ago. Mahima committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. Vasu Babu who was in an inebriated condition, slit his left hand with a knife. He was admitted to government hospital. In a suicide note left by Mahima, she reportedly stated that she took the extreme step due to harassment by her mother-in-law and police inquiry against her husband who was involved in a theft case. The police registered a case.
