Haystacks in Krishna district destroyed in fire

As many as five haystacks worth Rs 1.5 lakh, meant for use as fodder, were destroyed in a fire at Mustabada village in Gannavaram of Krishna district on Friday afternoon.

VIJAYAWADA: As many as five haystacks worth Rs 1.5 lakh, meant for use as fodder, were destroyed in a fire at Mustabada village in Gannavaram of Krishna district on Friday afternoon.


The destroyed stacks belonged to farmers of Gannavaram, who are cultivating in 25 acres of land. The farmers stocked some fodder for their cattle, but now their efforts have gone waste.


According to Gannavaram station fire officer Murali Kondababu, two fire tenders rushed to the spot and tried their best to douse the flames but the fire spread fast due to rising temperatures.
