VIJAYAWADA: Intermediate examinations concluded on a peaceful note in the State on Sunday. Over two lakh Intermediate first and second year students were absent from the exams. As many as 66 malpractice cases were registered against Inter first year students and 33 malpractice cases were booked against Inter second year candidates.

The number of absentees has increased from the year 2016. Student organisations are citing that the implementation of one-minute rule has resulted in the increase in number of absentees. “The one-minute rule could be the reason behind the increase in the number of absentees, where majority of the students are travelling long distances to reach examination centres. Most of the students were denied chance to write exams for coming late by a minute,” said SFI State president Noor Mohammad.

Apart from the increase in number of absentees, there is also a constant rise in the malpractices by Inter first year students. Total 66 malpractice cases were booked against them and they were debarred for an year. Similarly, 33 malpractice cases were booked against Inter second year students.
