Three horses run amok, injure 15 in school in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool

Students who noticed three horses on the premises of the school tried to drive them out when the animals panicked and began attacking the them.

KURNOOL: In a bizarre incident, three horses went wild, attacking students who turned up at Government Girls High School at Yemmiganur in the district, to take SSC examination on Wednesday.

According to officials, students who noticed three horses on the premises of the school tried to drive them out when the animals panicked and began attacking the students. When the horses turned wild, the students, who were scared, took to their heels.
Meanwhile, school staff and policemen who arrived on the scene drove the animals out. In the incident, a student and a teacher suffered minor injuries. The examination schedule was disrupted for about half an hour.
After coming out of the college, the three horses once again began galloping creating panic among the locals at Someswara Circle. A few courageous youth tried to overpower them but they ended up with injures as the horses were too powerful for them. The animals bit them and kicked them around. About 15 persons sustained injuries. One of the victims Zakir Hussain said that he would have died in the attack by horses had the help not arrived in time.
On learning about the incident, municipal staff rushed to the scene and drove the three horses out of the town. Municipal Commissioner G Sampath Kumar said that the injured persons were provided treatment at the area hospital and later discharged. The horses which belong to a local temple subsequently became subdued and behaved themselves, officials said.
