Remedial classes for Andhra Pradesh school students to start on March 27

The State School Education Department has issued circulars to all schools across the State to conduct remedial classes according to the schedule.

VIJAYAWADA: Remedial classes for school students across the State will start on March 27.

Remedial classes for primary school students (class 1-5) will start from Monday and classes for high school students will start on March 28. The classes will end on April 23.

The State School Education Department has issued circulars to all schools across the State to conduct remedial classes according to the schedule.

Though the programme was started for students who have scored less than 40 per cent marks in term exams,  it was made mandatory for all students later.

As part these classes, the students will be given basic lessons on the subjects they have studied earlier and the subjects of the class that they are going to be promoted.

Officials said that these classes would enhance the abilities of the students.

"Initially, we thought of implementing the classes for slow learners, but later in order to provide quality education, we made it mandatory for all the students. These classes are being implemented across the State. This may upset the students, but the classes will improvise their skills,” said A Subbareddy, District Education Officer (DEO),  Krishna district.

Apart from government schools and aided schools, majority of the private schools are going to conduct these classes for Class 1-9 students.

Some private schools have excluded primary students from attending the courses.

The classes will be held from 8 am to 12.30 pm.

Meanwhile, students' organisations have alleged that private schools were charging huge amount of fees for remedial classes while the government and aided schools are offering the classes for free.

“Even though private schools are collecting fees for the entire year, they are additionally charging huge amount for conducting these remedial classes and were forcing the children and the parents to enrol for these classes. Government officials should take action on these incidents and make sure that it benefits the students," SFI state president  Noor Mohammad said.
