Rs 9 crore sanctioned to tackle heat wave in Andhra Pradesh

The State government sanctioned Rs 9 crore to all districts for supply of buttermilk, ORS packets, providing shelters and organising awareness campaigns.

VIJAYAWADA: Taking serious note of the heat wave in summer, the State government sanctioned Rs 9 crore to all districts for supply of buttermilk, ORS packets, providing shelters and organising awareness campaigns for minimising the summer effect on public.

Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam on Saturday conducted a video conference with all the district collectors over the preparedness with regard to heat wave conditions during summer and the availability and supply of drinking water in rural and urban areas.

In the conference, some of the district collectors have requested the CS to sanction the amount immediately to take up precautionary measures for distribution of do's and don'ts pamphlets, banners, preparation of ORS packets locally and distribution, setting up of water kiosks to supply water and providing shelters.

After careful examination, the government has decided to release an amount of Rs 9 crore to all the 13 district collectors in the State for meeting the expenses of above mentioned arrangements.

While, Rs one crore each was allocated to Anantapur, Chittoor and Prakasam districts, Rs 60 lakh was sanctioned for the remaining 10 districts.
