Boy beaten to death with cricket bat, attacker taken into police custody

According to police, Sappa Sundeep Kumar (17), an SSC student, and his friends were playing cricket on the premises of the local community hall. In the middle of the play, Suravarapu Harischandra Prasad (19), a vegetable market worker, came and asked Sundeep to let him play along with them.

But he refused to take him in the middle of the play. Angered by his refusal, Prasad snatched the cricket bat from the hands of Sundeep and hit him with it.

When Sundeep fell unconscious, his friends rushed him to Tanuku government hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. Sundeep’s mother is doing job in Singapore. He was staying with his father and sister in Tanuku. 


Based on a complaint lodged by  his father, the police registered a case. Prasad was taken into police custody. After the conduct of postmortem, the body of Sundeep was handed over to his family members on Saturday for the conduct of last rites.
