VISAKHAPATNAM: All measures should be taken to ensure availability of water in all the mandals this summer and bore-lines and pipelines which need repairs should be attended to immediately, said Lalam Bhavani, ZP chairperson, at a general body meeting held here on Wednesday.
Out of the total 13 projects related to drinking water resources, so far five projects were completed, while the remaining were being undertaken in phases.
A total of `9.68 lakh was allotted for repairing hand pumps in nine mandals. “We have submitted a DPR for four water schemes with funds of `1,820 lakh under NABARD and `725 lakh is given for providing drinking water supply in four mandals,” said RWS incharge Meher Prasad.
Addressing the meeting, district collector Pravin Kumar said, “An action plan is being prepared to provide water to 1,091 villages which do not have water supply with `113 crore from ST sub-plan or under any other scheme.”
Under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a total of 27 CC roads had been sanctioned, out of which 11 works have been completed.
DMHO Uma Sundari said that a letter had been submitted to the government for recruitment of doctors and ANMs in the agency hospitals. MP K Hari Babu, MLCs P Chalapathi Rao, PVN Madhav, MLAs P Ramesh Babu, Peela Govinda Satyanarayana, Vangalpudi Anitha and others spoke on the occasion.
