Isolated places may get light rain in next 48 hrs: IMD report

The maximum day temperature remained above the normal at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Monday. 

VISAKHAPATNAM: The maximum day temperature remained above the normal at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Monday. However, rain occurred in Guntur, Krishna, Kadapa and Chittoor districts, witnessing a fall in the maximum temperatures during the last 24 hours. The highest temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Vijayawada, followed by Tirupati (43 degrees), Jangamheswarapuram and Kadapa (42 degrees). 


Of the 670 mandals in the State, none recorded severe heat wave conditions, while 24 mandals recorded heat wave conditions in the last 24 hours. As per the daily report by AP State Development Planning Society, as many as 61 mandals are likely to record heat wave conditions and 235 more may face hot conditions in the next 24 hours.

Weathermen said that the maximum day temperatures are likely to remain above the normal by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius at a few places over coastal AP and Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours.  


The upper air cyclonic circulation over Rayalaseema and its neighbourhood at 1.5 km above the mean sea level persists. A similiar cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh and Odisha extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level persists and trough from this system to Rayalaseema extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level has become less marked.  

“Under the influence of this weather system, isolated places in coastal AP and R’seema are likely to record light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the next 48 hours,” said an IMD report.
