VISAKHAPATNAM: From the new academic year, there will be special cash awards for the professors and scholars whose articles are published in prominent journals, said Andhra University vice-chancellor G Nageswara Rao. AU senate meeting was held here on Thursday with the principals and deans of the university.
Addressing the meeting, the VC said that there was a need to increase projects count in the university. Every professor needs to come up with a project, for which he told them to apply for the department of Science and Technology. The university is now modernising the central laboratory to store the thesis of every scholar.
“There is a need to introduce special courses like disaster management, fire fighting, marine engineering and yoga. Depending upon the demand, we will introduce new courses, said the VC. With the demand for foreign languages like Chinese and Vietnamese, the university has plans to introduce them soon.
