Tajangi Gangrape of tribal: Second arrest made

One of the prime accused in the tribal girls’ gangrape case and son of a head constable, L Siva Nagendra was arrested by Chintapalle police on Friday and was produced before the media.

VISAKHAPATNAM: One of the prime accused in the tribal girls’ gangrape case and son of a head constable, L Siva Nagendra was arrested by Chintapalle police on Friday and was produced before the media.

According to sources, Nagendra, the son of GK Veedhi head constable L Ganesh, is second accused in the case, while main accused K Varun, son of TDP MPTC Angadha Rao, was  arrested on Thursday.  Sources said that due to counselling of parents, Nagendra surrendered himself before the police and was arrested on Friday.

The Chintapalle police had already arrested  Korabu Veera Venkata Varun alias K Varun (21), Ch Sravan Kumar (22) and M Hari Govinda Prasad (26). It may be recalled that on May 20, two Primitive Group Tribal (PTG) girls were gangraped by eight persons in a school building at Taajangi village.

Basing on the victims and their family members’ complaint, the police registered a case under the sections of POCSO Act, 2012. Police is awaiting medical test and age confirmation of the victims.
